How to Get Your Licence in the Falkland Islands
Step 1 — Apply for Your Provisional Licence
All provisional licence applications are applied through the Falkland Islands Post Office in Stanley. Phone +500 27159.
Step 2 — Start Your Driving Lessons
With your provisional licence in hand, you can legally start taking lessons with a qualified driving instructor. This is where you’ll build confidence, learn local road rules, and practise the skills you’ll need for testing.
Step 3 — Complete Your Theory Tests
The Theory Test
This evaluates your understanding of road signs, right-of-way rules, speed limits, and general road safety. We’ll help you revise all required materials so you’re fully prepared. The test is booked through the Falkland Islands College +500 27133.
Once you pass the test, you’ll be issued your full Falkland Islands driving theory certificate—which is a pre-requisite for booking the final practical test.
Step 4 — Complete Your Practical Tests
The Practical Test
Conducted around Stanley, this test assesses your real-world driving ability. You’ll demonstrate manoeuvres, hazard awareness, speed control, and safe decision-making in live traffic conditions. The test is booked through the Falkland Islands College +500 27133.

Once you pass both tests, you’ll be issued your full Falkland Islands driving licence—congratulations, you’re officially a licensed driver!
